Preparing For Closing Day
You're almost there! Closing day is one of the most exciting parts of the home buying process. Before you officially receive the keys, there are just a few final steps to complete.
Final Walk-Through
Shortly before closing—usually the day before or the morning of—you'll complete a final walk-through of the home.
This is your opportunity to make sure:
- Any agreed-upon repairs have been completed.
- The home is in the same condition as when you made your offer.
- Included appliances and fixtures are still in the home.
- The seller has removed all personal belongings unless otherwise agreed upon.
If anything doesn't look right, we'll work together to address it before closing.
Utilities & Home Services
Before moving in, you'll want to arrange for utilities and other essential services to be transferred into your name.
This may include:
- Electricity
- Water & Sewer
- Natural Gas
- Internet & Cable
- Trash & Recycling
I'll be happy to provide you with a list of local service providers to make the transition as easy as possible.
Be Prepared
Even when everything is going smoothly, small issues can occasionally come up right before closing.
If they do, don't worry.
I'll be there to help resolve any last-minute details and keep everything moving toward a successful closing.
Closing Day
At closing, you'll meet with the title company (or closing attorney) to sign the final paperwork and officially complete your purchase.
Here's what to expect:
- Review and sign your closing documents.
- Pay any remaining funds due at closing (typically by wire transfer or certified funds).
- Your lender will finalize the loan, if applicable.
- Once everything is signed and funded, ownership of the home is officially transferred to you.
Then comes the best part...
Welcome Home!
After the transaction is complete, you'll receive the keys to your new home and officially become a homeowner.
